New technology machine that can detect knee problems without X-rays

New technology machine that can detect knee problems without X-rays

VNIT college professors and PHD students create sensors that no longer require X-rays

Antenna sensor designed for knee effusion, which will also work on materials such as denim or jeans

Chetan Patel / Surat: As the world moves towards technology, Surat SVNIT College professors and PHD students have created a sensor that will let you know at home what is wrong with your knee. In addition, it will also be able to know how much water, blood or pus is in the knee. Therefore, X-rays will no longer be required for this medical examination and the damage caused by X-ray radiation will also be avoided.

With the new changes in technology coming day by day, a sensor has been set up in Surat which, if the knee is full of water or blood and pus has frozen, the person can sit at home and get information about the knee disease just like a blood pressure machine. To provide this facility to the people, special sensors have been set up by Associate Professors of Electronics Department of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Institute of Technology at Surat and his PHD students. Thanks to the patented sensor, people will no longer need to take X-rays in the coming days and will be able to get information about knee problems from the comfort of their own home.

Most people suffer from knee problems. Treatment is done after diagnosis in X-ray. In addition, when X-ray radiation proves to be very deadly, Dr. Piyush Patel, an associate professor in the electronics department at SVNIT, and a PHD student, help people learn about knee problems at home and avoid fatal radiation. A special sensor has been designed by Arpan Shah as well as Hiren Dhuda. Regarding the sensor, Dr. Piyush Patel said, "We have recently received a patent for this sensor." This is a design pattern. Designed antenna sensors for knee effusion. The doctor looks at the patient's knee and asks for an X-ray and the doctor diagnoses from the X-ray photo. But this sensor is a novelty in itself. We will make this sensor an antenna sensor by applying conductive trades on a material like denim or jeans.

"We will place the sensor on the knee, then if there is water, blood or pus inside the knee, the filter placed in the sensor will tell you how much water is in the knee," he added. Right now this is in design mode and we are working on a simulator. In our simulator we have experimented with a body phantom called a knee. Along with this good results have also been obtained. We have a computerized embroidery machine. We will print the sensor we have designed on the embroidery machine. A training board will also be procured for this. A grant of Rs 18 lakh has been provided by SVNIT's biotechnology department for the project. Dr Piyush further said that just like a belt comes in a blood pressure machine, it will also have a belt. Patients have to go to the hospital or lab for X-rays, it takes time there, only then the X-ray photo comes to the doctor. But this machine will become portable and in just 10 minutes, imagine how much water is in the knee. In addition, these sensors do not contain radiation, so the per son is not harmed in any way.
