According to the latest report from cybersecurity firm Kaspersky, a modified version of WhatsApp, FMWhatsApp 16.80.0, is back on the web. This app gives users an additional feature, which is not present in the original app. Because of this, users can download it. The latter can be controlled from the app with all the details accessed from their smartphones.

The new version of FMWhastApp has a Trojan Triada, Kaspersky said. It also comes with an Advertising Software Development Kit (SDK). Here's how it works ...

Affected by Trojan, this app acquires unique device identifiers such as device ID, subscriber ID, MAC address.

It then sends it to a remote server. After the information reaches the server, the server registers the new device.

The Trojan in the app then downloads the payload to the infected device. It then decrypts the content and launches it into operation.

Researchers have reported many malwares carrying out this type of activity through FMWhatsAp. This malware downloads payloads once downloaded to the device and allows hackers to perform multiple functions on the device. These include displaying a full screen ad, running invisible ads in the background, and activating a paid subscription to the owner's information without a device.

According to the report, FMWhatsApp takes permission to read the SMS of the device. Because of that he easily starts emptying the bank account by subscribing to the paid subscription.
